Vincenzo Caprile - Peasant Girl with Basket

Vincenzo Caprile studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, with Domenico Morelli and Gabriele Smargiassi.

An impressionist painter, he was associated with the Resina School and dedicated himself to depicting landscape scenes and popular figures. His pictorial technique displays a remarkable freshness of touch, reminiscent of the influence of Filippo Palizzi, and led to his great commercial success. He lived for long periods in Venice, alternating paintings of the lagoon with Neapolitan landscapes.

Together with other Neapolitan painters (Luca Postiglione, Pietro Scoppetta, Vincenzo Volpe, Edoardo Matania, Attilio Pratella, Giuseppe Alberto Cocco, Giuseppe Casciaro, Giuseppe Chiarolanza, Gaetano Esposito, Vincenzo Migliaro, Vincenzo Irolli) he was called to decorate the rooms of the Caffè Gambrinus in Naples.
