Vincent Pirruccio - Composition

The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," meaning to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images. In sculpture, too, several artists have adopted an abstract language, which can manifest itself in biomorphic or mechanomorphic creations, such as the present work. Indeed, in this sculpture by Vincent Pirruccio, the reference to a rationalist aesthetic of pure forms and volumes is evident.

In his sculptural research, artist Vincent Pirruccio is inspired by the beauty of pure forms, particularly cubes, spheres, and circles. The artist thus reconstructs his perception and message through a mechanomorphic process. Form is condensed into regular, mirrored surfaces, which multiply the optical interplay of sharp edges and, consequently, the decomposition and reconstruction of reality. Pirruccio's perfect solids, moreover, are conceived as containers that allow us to see within them the very sensible reality they encompass. In some cases, the solid itself contains another pure form.

Vincent Pirruccio is an Italian artist born in 1946. His entire research has focused on steel, through which he creates sculptures inspired by pure geometric forms.
