Description of the work
Description of the work
The work has a marked expressionist vocation, which tends to emphasize the expression of emotions. Expressionist art seeks to proclaim its moods to the world and flaunt them with passion. Formally, this translates into a summary rendering of the figures, through a very nervous and animated line, as well as the use of a violent color palette. These characteristics are found in the historical avant-garde movements of expressionism: Fauvism and the Die Brucke movement in Germany.
Umberto Bianchini's style is characterized by a highly refined expressionism in which the painter remains connected to the sensory data of the reality before him, yet everything is transfigured through his brushstrokes. A soft, vaporous brushstroke completely envelops the figures and dematerializes them, imbuing them with a transcendental aura. Bianchini's subjects, therefore, take on a sulfurous, vaporous appearance, characterized by a color palette that favors white, gray, and light blue hues. A chiaroscuro tonalism aimed at accentuating the subjects' transfiguration in memory and recollection.
Umberto Bianchini was a Florentine artist born in 1934 and passed away in 2010. Initially a commercial artist, he later became interested in painting, frequenting the studios of Enzo Pregno and Guido Borgianni. He participated in numerous exhibitions throughout his career, and two of his works were purchased by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment. One of his paintings is exhibited at the National Museum in Krakow, Poland. His primary interest lies in female subjects, which he treats with a soft brushstroke, a result of his interest in the Post-Impressionists and Boldini.
