Salvatore Emblema (1929 Terzigno - 2006 Terzigno) moved to Rome in the late 1940s and created collages of dried leaves, known as "fullografie." In the 1950s, he moved to stone and volcanic soil. From 1956 to 1958, Emblema lived in New York and returned to Rome in the 1960s, creating works with a profoundly materialistic essence. This resulted in "naked canvases," framed by bands of color, and the "dewoven canvases" that would make him famous worldwide.

"Space is an idea of ​​the limit as a definition of infinity… the image is reduced to a complex, almost esoteric system of proportions: the plane and the back plane are connected by the rhythmic sequence of parallel lines. A golden ratio almost governs the ratios of height, width, and depth. Multiple transparent layers of colored canvas appear within the limited thickness of the frame, creating depth, intertwining and almost invisibly overlapping the orthogonal lines of the canvas threads.
