Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Remo Faggi's style is grounded in a mature pictorial style of post-impressionism. Composition relies entirely on the application of color, applied with broad brushstrokes. With a Cezanne-like sense of construction, the brushstrokes, arranged on various planes, give form to objects. Faggi is thus a painter who remains grounded in phenomenal reality, yet seeks to transcend it by deeply investigating, through his pictorial application, the essence of things. His works are always characterized by burnished, crepuscular tones.
Remo Faggi is an artist originally from Corteleona, in the Pavia province. He lives in Santa Cristina and has a studio and permanent exhibition in Bissone. For eighteen years, he taught drawing at the Raffaello Sanzio Art School in Pavia. His artistic output has been highly acclaimed: his works are held in several private collections both in Italy and abroad. His name appears in prestigious catalogues.
