Biography of Antonio Pedretti
Born in 1950 in Gavirate, Antonio Pedretti began his artistic career by attending the Castello Sforzesco painting school and subsequently the Brera Academy, which he left in 1972. His talent emerged from his first solo exhibition in Varese, characterized by palette knife paintings depicting landscapes and farmhouses with a sentimental sensibility and remarkable technical skill. Landscape is indeed one of the artist's most popular genres and has been a constant throughout his career. After participating in group exhibitions and a second solo exhibition in 1970, Pedretti explored new territory, painting imaginary landscapes composed of sea waves and drifting clouds within suspended, illuminated atmospheres. He experimented with materials using plexiglass and resins. During the 1980s, Pedretti abandoned contemporary avant-garde trends and returned to a more naturalistic depiction of nature, influenced by masters such as Constable, Segantini, and Morlotti. His works show particular attention to detail, focusing on individual elements such as stems, flowers and bushes.
