Flowers as an independent subject began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world, as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers were depicted not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. Norberto Martini was born in Florence in 1940. He initially studied music, winning a scholarship that took him to Palermo for three years. Upon returning to Florence, he began frequenting his uncle's sculptor studio, ultimately turning to the visual arts. In the 1970s, he began the "altar boys" series, which would make him very popular.
