Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images.
The work features a typical composition by artist Nicolay Diulgheroff, one of the most important exponents of Second Futurism. Compared to the avant-garde phase of Futurism, which emphasized movement and speed, the composition becomes static. Diulgheroff, in particular, is drawn to Post-Cubism and Russian Constructivism. This leads him to create geometric compositions with a clearly rational imprint, constructed through the optical illusion generated by juxtaposing volumes on different planes. The contribution of technology is also important in a historical period in which electricity also becomes fundamental to the creation of artworks. Thus, neon lighting becomes a fundamental complement to the enjoyment of the work.
Nicolay Diuligheroff was born in Kustendil, Bulgaria, in 1901 and died in Turin in 1982. His education was initially divided between Dresden and Vienna, followed by his attendance at the Bauhaus in Weimar. He later joined the Second Italian Futurism movement and, after meeting Fillia, moved to Turin. There he began producing Futurist artworks and design projects. He also contributed to the magazines La Città Nuova and Stile Futurista.
