Miria Malandri - Crucianelli's music

The "Still Life" genre emerged in the early 17th century. It consists of compositions of inanimate subjects, most often flowers or fruit. While initially it was an opportunity for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art the "Still Life" also becomes a way of interpreting reality, as it did for the Cubists or Giorgio Morandi.

Painter Miria Malandri's style is essentially figurative, aiming to reproduce reality in every aspect and detail. It can therefore be broadly defined as hyperrealist, due to its desire to depict the perceptible world objectively. However, Miria Malandri achieves a sort of compromise between reality and her poetics. Thus, as we can see in this work, the subjects are immersed in a subtle atmosphere that seems to corrode their forms. In this way, thanks to the artist's extraordinary pictorial technique, the paintings remain suspended in a sort of metaphysical limbo between hyperrealist illusionism and existential lyricism, in a timeless dimension that is that of memory.

Miria Malandri is an artist originally from Forlì, where she was born in 1946 and where she lives and works. She trained in Anatomical Drawing at the University of Bologna. Her initial interest focused on the faces of acrobats and circus performers. Since 1975, her work has focused on her memories, transforming old family photos into paintings. Miria Malandri takes fragments of reality and transfers them to canvas, enlarging or de-framing them, thus seeking to visually represent the mechanisms of memory.
