Artistic inspiration / poetic notes
Alcheringa or Altyerrenge (in the Aranda language) is the term used by Australian Aborigines to indicate the “dreamtime” or the primordial era of creation.
During my trip to Australia, crossing the red center, the heart of the continent where the mountains sacred to the Aborigines are located, I experienced strong emotions.
“ALCHERINGA” is intended to be my tribute to that land, representing the sensorial involvement I had with it.
The tree in the center (a reproduction of a eucalyptus at the “Devil's Marbles”) is the metaphysical creator of the world.
The lower part of the painting represents “Uluru”, the sacred mountain, better known as Ayers Rock, and is a graffito executed on red earth (strictly collected far from the sacred site).
The upper part, enclosed between the branches, represents the rest of the Australian continent.
