Inos Corradin - Landscape

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Breaking away from his caricatural surrealism, Inos Corradin here presents a landscape with an expressionistic interpretation. The brushstrokes are synthetic, delineating objects with a few generic strokes. Even the rendering of space is not entirely realistic and presents strains of expressionism. The color, which appears with anti-naturalistic hues, must also be considered in this context.

Inos Corradini is an artist born in Vogogna in 1929. His career developed primarily in Brazil, where he moved in 1950. He began to be part of the group that included Jan Woroniekl and Geraldo Trinidade Leal. In 1953, he moved to Salvador de Bahia. In the 1950s, he also worked as a set designer for ballets and theater productions. In the 1970s, he returned to Europe. His works are held in numerous private collections, not only in the United States but also in Brazil.
