Giuseppe Trapasso - Untitled

My name is Giuseppe Trapasso, I live and work in Rome. I was born in 1966. I've always drawn since I was a child, then as an adult, after attending a two-year course organized by the City of Rome, I began painting seriously in oils, participating in various group exhibitions. I only had a solo exhibition in 2000. In 2007, I discovered watercolor out of curiosity and have never abandoned it since. This technique allows me to express myself more freely than oil; my painting style is very instinctive and rapid. My paintings feature landscapes, distant horizons, castles perched on rugged hills, all interwoven with forms reminiscent of the human figure. My reference artists are: JMW Turner for his seascapes and masterly technique, Felice Casorati for his static and essential figures, Japanese Zen watercolourists for their instinctive and confident way of managing the brushstroke and also two cartoonists who for me represent a point of reference for their way of setting up and breaking down the painting: Sergio Toppi and Dino Battaglia.
