Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images.
This work is highly significant for the work of painter Giuseppe Bertolino and his aesthetic pursuits. Bertolino perceives phenomenal reality and transfers it to canvas with an artistic language informed by spirituality and his own inner self. The perceptible world is translated into pure color, the application of which, by the artist, also reflects a search for harmony within the work. Bertolino's personality is also evident in the highly material quality of the color, which lends an almost three-dimensional feel to the work's surface.
Giuseppe Bertolino was born in 1958 in Castelvetrano-Selinunte. Since the 1990s, he has devoted himself to painting using pure colors and using unique, highly textured impasto techniques. The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including "Arte Fiera-Padova 2000," "Vittoriarte 2000," "Contemporanea-Forlì 2001," "Arte Fiera-Padova 2001," "Arte Expo Bari 2002," "Udine 2002," "Contemporanea-Forlì 2002," and "Arte Fiera-Padova 2002."
