Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. Giovanni Di Munno, Monopoli 1919-1993. His predominant interest in landscape, stemming from the 20th-century Apulian painting tradition he had assimilated from his teachers in Monopoli, quickly established him as one of the most prominent figures on the Venezuelan art scene in the 1970s. His encounter with and association with the members of the "Escuela de Caracas" was crucial, convincing him to continue his artistic research, completing the path he had begun in his native land.
