Gaetano Tranchino was born in Syracuse in 1939. His painting is influenced by Metaphysical Art, De Chirico, Savinio, and Viviani. However, his understanding of painting has been nourished primarily by literary references, primarily Borges and Conrad. His works have been exhibited in numerous solo shows both in Italy and abroad. In addition to painting, Tranchino also devotes himself to printmaking. He has created set designs for the National Institute of Ancient Drama and posters for various performances.
