Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been an artist's aspiration throughout the centuries. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

This is a landscape conceived in a very classical and traditional manner. The painter frames a large portion of space according to a regular orthogonal perspective. The compositional structure is based on the drawing, which delineates compact volumes and describes objects in detail. The rest is left to the color, bright and full of light, which is applied in a very cursive manner, giving the painting a freshness and immediacy.

G. Crosara is a painter with an excellent technique who creates landscapes with a rigorous, classical approach. Formally, he enlivens his works with a rapid, impressionistic-inspired brushstroke.
