Description of the work
Description of the work
In the history of art, a clear distinction can often be made between figurative and abstract stylistic currents. However, when an artist's goal is to represent an object that resonates with phenomenal reality but is also charged with hidden and symbolic meaning, this boundary can become blurred. In the case of Brescianini da Rovato, the result is a synthesis of objective, phenomenal data to develop a highly personal aesthetic language based on drawing and color.
Even in the case of a landscape, one can see how Franco Brecsianini da Rovato forces phenomenal reality in favor of a complex composition of lines and colors. In this work, the drawing weaves a dense and intricate pattern like embroidered fabric. The aesthetic canon is then completed by the use of color, which Brescianini da Rovato uses abundantly, with bright and vibrant hues, but in a balanced manner, so as to maintain balance in the composition. Furthermore, the color, being highly diluted, creates a system of overlapping glazes that, combined with the complexity of the drawing, makes the structure of the work even more complex and refined.
Francesco Brescianini, born in Rovato in 1944, is represented in public and private collections in Italy and abroad. Since 1975, his works have been permanently exhibited at the Civic Museum of Pizzighettone, the Usellini Museum in Arona, the Pinacoteca d'Arte Moderna di Santià, and the Strasbourg Museum. In 1989, he won an important first prize by invitation, the FIAT-IVECO-SAVA-LEASING-PIRELLI prize on the theme of the automobile, and the President of the Republic award at the CRAI in Malpensa. He has held numerous solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad: London, Bonn, Cologne, New Brandenburg, Brussels, Paris, and Nimes. Recently, his works have been exhibited in Toronto, Geneva, Paris, Tokyo, Boston, and New York.
