Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. The landscape conceived by Felice Augusto Trisolini is inspired by his native Puglia, of which he depicts evocative glimpses of whitewashed villages and poetic seascapes.
Artist Felice Augusto Trisolini sought to portray glimpses and views of a rural setting as a celebration of the beauty of the villages of his homeland, Puglia. He did so with a traditional approach that led him to embrace a simple yet effective realism, featuring solitary places filled with light. In this painting, too, one can see how the defining characteristic of Trisolini's views is an intense use of white. The white of the light, reflecting off the walls of the houses, predominates in the composition, almost transfiguring reality. This allowed the artist to convey the warmth of a sun-drenched space through the use of colors brimming with luminous vibrations.
Felice Augusto Trisolini was born in Carovigno in 1939 and passed away in Bari in 2012. Of noble origins, he spent his childhood in his hometown before moving to Bari. He was a member of the AIP (Italian Association of Apulian Engravers) and studied engraving for many years at the "La Colonna" printing house. He participated in important national and international art exhibitions, receiving hundreds of awards and critical acclaim. Some of his works are included in public and private collections in Italy, Europe, and America.
