Enrico Iuliano - Network Writing - Ivory

The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images.

Enrico Iuliano's entire artistic output is inspired by the world of productivity and technique. Even his paintings, which focus on an abstract language and a synthesis of reality through geometric forms, draw inspiration from work tools, as in this case. Indeed, it is the stylized image of a fountain pen that initiates the sinuous compositional rhythm that characterizes the surface of the painting. Formally, too, the style can be likened to a mechanomorphism that mimics mass production.

Enrico Iuliano was born in Turin in 1968 and lives and works in Collegno. He graduated from the Accademia Albertina in 1991. He has exhibited his work in numerous important exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. Among his most notable exhibitions are Sguardo coscienza (held at the PalaFuksas in Turin in 2007), La Sindrome di Icaro (The Icarus Syndrome), and '900. Cento anni di creatività in Piemonte (both held in 2008, the first in the Parco Storico Seghetti Panichi in Castel di Lama and the second in various Piedmontese cities), and, in 2009, Collector's Choice II, ZKM Museum, Kalsruhe (Germany).
