Elvio Marchionni - Madonna

Born in Spello in 1944, Elvio Marchionni lives and works in Spello. He attended the Art Institute in Perugia, where he studied medieval painting techniques, such as fresco and mosaic. His particularly valuable works recall images destroyed by time, such as fragments of mural paintings or "strappi" (tears) from frescoes. With his unique technique, he imbues lines with a new yet timeless meaning, lending the image a subtle evanescence. He is an artist who enjoys working with images eroded by time. From the art of the past, he brings to light, but not too much, the gothic shadows of Madonnas and Child, archaeological finds, and partially salvaged frescoes. But he allows little glimpse of certain details.
