Elvio Marchionni - The Rift

Elvio Marchionni (Spello, 1944) attended the Bernardino di Betto Art Institute in Perugia, where he studied and explored medieval painting techniques, particularly fresco and mosaic. In 1965, he began working in advertising graphics, but four years later he decided to devote himself entirely to painting.

In the Chapel of the Sacrament of Santa Maria Maggiore and Spello we find four panels created by him. "His works appear as fragments of mural painting, "tears" of frescoes and memories filtered and consumed by time.

The images blur between figures and objects, between matter and erasure, enveloped in an unreal, transparent light. Marchionni has established himself not only in Italy but also abroad. In 1986, he held two significant exhibitions: one in Palma de Mallorca and one at the H. Kunst-Galerie in Heidelberg. He also exhibited in Venice at the prestigious Biennale of Sacred Art and in Rome at the Galleria dei Greci.
