Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
This work is a testament to the quality of Carlo Vighi's ceramic production. In both his portraits and landscapes, his formal language strives for a perfect naturalistic rendering, expressed in a sober, rationalistic style. Even in this romantic scene with swans, we can appreciate Vighi's interest in constructing the composition through a delicate balance of pure volumes. There's an almost geometric sense of reality, which is tempered by the softness of his touch and the brilliance of his colors.
Carlo Vighi was born in Ravenna in 1951. In addition to being a painter and renowned ceramist, he also studied classical music. He holds a degree in Communication Sciences and has divided his career between marketing and visual arts. He exhibited his work for the first time at the age of 14, followed by a long series of exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. Carlo Vighi is also very active in dissemination, participating in conferences and seminars and publishing treatises.
