Description of the work
Description of the work
The work Heteros – on the theme of instruments represents a visual reflection on the concept of "instrument" as a means of transformation and communication. The shapes sculpted and painted on the surface recall mechanical or musical elements, but are not depicted realistically. The title "Heteros," which in Greek means "other," suggests that the artist intends to suggest something other than a simple object: perhaps a sense of change, of confrontation with that which is foreign or different from oneself. The image is thus open to multiple interpretations, inviting the viewer to find their own meaning.
The work unfolds on a sculpted and painted surface, where the shapes are constructed from wooden materials and then hand-painted with paint. The relief of the main forms creates a play of light and shadow that makes them stand out forcefully. The predominant hues are yellow and red, with hints of white and orange that lend energy and depth to the composition. The shapes are arranged with balance, yet also with a certain movement, as if following an internal rhythm. The overall effect is highly textured: the work can almost be felt with the eyes, so strong is the sense of materiality.
Carlo Vighi was born in Ravenna in 1951. From a young age, he devoted himself to the study of music, drawing, and painting, exhibiting for the first time at just 14 years old. After his studies, he worked as a designer and manager, combining his profession with ongoing artistic activity. He graduated in Communication Sciences and, since the 1980s, has devoted himself increasingly to painting. He lives and works in Volta Mantovana, where he organizes courses, conferences, and publishes art treatises. His artistic career is marked by ongoing research: from realism to expressionism and metaphysics, he has developed an original abstract language. His works are distinguished by the care taken in drawing, the depth of light, and the balance between form and color. In both his portraits and his abstract compositions, Vighi demonstrates a profound sensitivity that translates emotions and thoughts into vivid images.
