Bianchi - Landscape on the lake

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. The work's structure is essentially based on drawing. The artist focused heavily on the shapes and volumes of the objects, on the exploration of details and their naturalistic rendering, relying on a good drawing technique. Pictorial effects, however, are kept to a minimum, except for the outlines of the objects, which are slightly blurred to interact with the space. The color is applied vividly, with bright hues that fill the entire scene with light. Bianchi is a painter who demonstrates excellent academic training, especially in the composition of his work through drawing. He places great emphasis on a detailed naturalistic rendering and a faithful transposition of sensory information onto the surface of the painting.
