Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. The artist of this painting, although he chose a landscape as his subject, seems more interested in other aspects than the naturalistic rendering of the sensory element. The artist's primary interest is, in fact, composition as a result of an interplay of volumes. He doesn't focus much on detailed representation, but rather aims to enhance the volumes and make them vibrate in the atmosphere through the use of color. The surface of the painting becomes multifaceted, created by the intersecting planes of houses and cultivated fields. Bruno Pessani is a painter originally from Garbagnate. He initially approached painting as a self-taught artist, later taking courses in nudes and watercolors. He has held several exhibitions in Italy and formed numerous partnerships with various groups of Lombard artists. Pessani's favorite subjects are both urban and rural landscapes, which for him provide a pretext for constructing forms and volumes.
