Antonio Luci - Man Woman

Antonio Luci's themes are inspired by a dreamlike world that differs from reality because it features a highly personal aesthetic, the result of an exploration of the artist's unconscious. His favorite subjects are women's faces and horses.

In this painting, Antonio Luci, in addition to adopting a Modigliani-esque aesthetic in the construction of the faces, creates a fragmented composition through an elegant, sinuous and simplifying line that reduces the subjects to the essence of their beauty. This decomposition is achieved through color, whose different hues are placed on different planes, transforming the composition into a multifaceted surface.

Luci's expressive interpretation of color, detached from reality, and his creation of an aesthetic that favors elongated, sinuous forms, bring him into contact with Modigliani. Like the great Livorno-born master, Luci prefers to construct his subjects through an elegant line, which exerts pleasing deformations on the bodies, in pursuit of an aesthetic that is also an expression of interiority, of an experience.
