SAILS - SILVIO FORMICHETTI

Unique work created during a live performance — oil on canvas, 100 × 69 cm, 2023.

This is one of the very rare figurative works by Silvio Formichetti, an artist whose research moves predominantly in abstraction. An exceptional piece in his journey, which testifies to the technical mastery and expressive versatility of an internationally recognized master.

Silvio Formichetti participated in the 2011 Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious stages of world contemporary art. His presence at that venue consecrates the value of his work and makes each of his works a significant cultural and collecting investment.

The work Sails was born in a performative context: the pictorial gesture becomes a public act, full of energy and presence. The subject — the sails — evokes movement, freedom, and tension towards the horizon, recurring themes in the artist's poetics.
