Umberto Levi - Spring on the Tigullio

Through the painter's vision, Umberto Levi has naturalistically depicted a landscape characterized by a body of water surrounded by natural elements. Every artist, within their own historical period, manages to represent their surroundings in their own way, elevating them. Landscape painting throughout the centuries has become a reflection of change; it has always been at the heart of artistic exploration, both as a setting and a backdrop, but also as a subject in its own right. From the study of Renaissance perspective to Impressionist landscapes, the theme is still widely used, explored, and interpreted today in order to touch the emotions of the viewer.

Umberto Levi is a painter who knows how to imbue a landscape with a delicate, soft atmosphere. The surface of the paintings blends with the study of objects, rendered with extreme naturalness. We find a remarkable technical quality in the application of color, which favors a quick, cursive hatching. In addition, the space and light of the composition are tonally balanced, especially when observing the details of the canvas.

Born in Verona in 1930, Umberto Levi is a lyrical and poetic painter who looks to tradition, making use of the Impressionist legacy combined with the typical colors of the Veneto region.
