Ugo Nespolo - Visit to the museum

After completing his art studies at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, he began his personal research in the 1960s, moving from pop art to a more conceptual direction while maintaining a characteristic ironic edge. In the 1970s, he abandoned the widespread conversion to conceptual art and instead, following the American model, turned to experimental cinema, which has remained a fundamental aspect of his artistic production. During these years of reflection, he also began a trend of reinterpretation, deconstruction, and reinvention of other people's art, as well as experimentation with unusual materials and techniques (such as inlay): precious woods, mother-of-pearl, ivory, alabaster, silver, leather, and porcelain. In the 1980s, his figurative research and film production progressed together, giving rise to a wide range of experiences in the applied arts sector, spanning a wide variety of fields. He lives and works in Turin and New York.
