Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always played a leading role in artistic research, both as a setting and a backdrop, but also as a subject in its own right. The naturalistic description of landscape has been one of the greatest aspirations for artists of every era. Each historical period has given its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its description: first with a search for space, through Brunelleschian perspective in the early Renaissance; then with the rendering of atmosphere in the sixteenth century; and finally with the representation of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
The artist Titti’s aim is to provide a simplified interpretation of reality, seeking new values of purity in representation. For this reason, her approach can be defined as naive, yet it unfolds through a very classical and traditional painting style. Her language is, in fact, essentially figurative and finds its fullest expression in the traditional genres of landscape painting or still life. However, the artist manages to infuse the tradition with her originality and personal touch, precisely through that search for purity in representation that shapes her style. More concretely, all this is expressed in a fluid technique that resolves the subjects with a few quick but incisive strokes. The objects almost lose their materiality in the lightness of the glazes. From a chromatic point of view as well, the artist favors decidedly light tones, full of light.
Both in her choice of subjects and in her method of execution, we can say that the artist Titti works within the realm of classical and figurative production, while displaying a certain naive approach in composing her works. Her desire to seek lightness and simplicity in representation is evident, with the aim of imbuing the work of art with primordial values of purity and innocence.
