Tassinari - Landscape

The subject of this painting is linked to the Vedutismo movement. Vedutismo is a genre born in the 18th century and developed primarily in Venice. Vedutismo painters aimed to represent a landscape objectively and scientifically, placing it as the protagonist of the work. There are basically two types of vedute: the realistic one, taken exactly from reality, and the "capriccio," a fanciful view invented by the painter.

In this painting, the painter Tassinari creates a highly scenic view, allowing the viewer's gaze to wander through a deep perspective that follows the stream as it fades into the distance. Tassinari, as we can see in other works, is a master of color, meaning that the composition leaves little room for design and the structure of the work is achieved by exploiting the tonal values ​​of color. There is obviously a connection to the great tradition of Venetian painting, and Vedutismo in particular, which gained international popularity starting in the 18th century.
