Spinelli - Untitled

Landscape has always played a leading role in artistic research, both as a setting and a backdrop, but also as a subject in its own right. The naturalistic description of landscape has been one of the greatest aspirations for artists of every era. Each historical period has given its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its description: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschian perspective in the early Renaissance; then with the rendering of atmosphere in the sixteenth century; and finally with the representation of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

The painter Spinelli stands out for a highly lyrical interpretation of landscape, shaped by a remarkable process of abstraction of sensory reality. The elements of the landscape are practically stripped of their materiality, synthesized into pure veils of color. Thus, the objects in the landscape become diaphanous and transparent apparitions, and what remains on the canvas of Nature is not determined by an imitative process, but is rather the transfiguration of the artist's pure perception. Everything, therefore, is resolved in a light and essential minimalism that is also reflected in the luminosity of the palette.

As we can see from the analysis of his works, the artist Spinelli is the protagonist of an original pictorial production balanced between figuration and abstraction. His diaphanous and minimalist landscape painting is the very image of the artist's perception of Nature, transferred onto the canvas in light veils of color.
