Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images.
The work is based on a mechanomorphic object, plastically raised, whose forms are the result of an interplay of volumes. The object itself determines the intersection of the volumes through all its possibilities for interaction in space. The artist's interest is entirely directed towards the object itself, not, therefore, as a phenomenal reality to be perceived through the five senses, but as a pure idea in all its possibilities and extensions.
The work shows how Scanu was a painter influenced by the mechanomorphism of the early historical avant-garde and Picasso's cubism.
