Description of the work
Description of the work
Untitled abstract work by Pino Pinelli, created in 1997 using mixed media and measuring 45 × 28 cm. The composition features two white textured elements placed side by side on a black surface. The strong color contrast highlights the texture of the material, the irregular edges, and the marks that cross the two forms.
The work expresses some of the central aspects of Pino Pinelli's research: moving beyond the traditional canvas, the centrality of material, and the relationship between color, surface, and space. The forms emerge from the background as autonomous presences, giving the painting a physical and three-dimensional dimension.
Accompanied by a certificate and preserved in excellent condition, this work by Pino Pinelli from 1997 represents an interesting opportunity for collectors of Italian contemporary art and for modern, minimalist interiors.
Pino Pinelli was born in Catania in 1938 and moved to Milan in the early 1960s, coming into contact with the city's vibrant art scene. He is considered one of the leading figures of Analytical Painting, a movement that developed in Italy in the 1970s and focused on reflecting on the constituent elements of painting: color, material, surface, and space.
In his research, Pinelli progressively moved beyond the boundaries of the traditional canvas. Starting in the second half of the 1970s, he developed so-called "dissemination," articulating the work into autonomous material elements placed directly on the wall. Painting thus abandons the closed form of the picture frame to enter into a relationship with architecture and the surrounding space.
Pino Pinelli's works have been presented in important exhibitions in Italy and abroad and are part of public and private collections. His work occupies a significant position in the history of Italian contemporary art.
