S. Fabbri - Glimpse

The subject of this bas-relief can be defined as a genre scene, that is, the representation of an episode of everyday life that, apparently, has no significant elements. This type of domestic subject matter was long considered minor and only began to spread in Western art from the seventeenth century onwards. It was only with the development of nineteenth-century realist movements that everyday subjects were considered to be of the same importance as historical or religious ones.
