Description of the work
Description of the work
Graphic art, in general, refers to artworks created using graphic techniques such as engraving, lithography, screen printing, monotype, and other forms of artistic printing. Numerous artists have explored this type of representation, such as Picasso and Dalí. In this case, Salvatore Carbone, a multifaceted artist, works with the screen-printing technique. The layering of geometric and natural forms seems to echo an art history that spans from Futurism to Guttuso. The artist's exploration is not limited to color but also encompasses refined composition and rigor, representing an inner space.
The screen-printing technique, which involves using a roller or rubber blade to push ink through the open areas of the underlying base, highlights the breadth of Salvatore Carbone's work. Here too, as in his paintings, the use of contrasting colors predominates alongside the grace of the figures on paper, revealing a charming harmony and balance between drawing and color. The soft lines blend with the print, playing with the layering of forms.
Salvatore Carbone was born in Cutrufiano, Lecce, in 1951 and was a painter, sculptor, and set designer. An artist with a strong Expressionist vein, he often highlights bold colors and contrasts. In his work, the artist reflects on the history, colors, smells, and atmospheres of his homeland, without neglecting the socio-political dimension.
