Romolo Fedeli - Boats

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Romolo Fedeli's artistic language undoubtedly refers to reality objectively, without interposing interpretations of any kind. Thus, his style is characterized by a remarkable formal purity, which is especially evident in the precision of his drawing. The form of things is in no way affected by pictorial effects, thanks also to the compactness of the color, which extends across broad, harmonious bands.

Romolo Fedeli is a painter who primarily works in the landscape genre, using an objective, almost metaphysical language. His solitary views are imbued with a sense of mysterious suspension, thanks to his unpictorial style.
