Description of the work
Description of the work
After the Arab Spring of 2015, a new exodus began from Africa, from Senegal, Zambia, Burkina Faso, Turkey, and Egypt. Beyond the human aspect and the psychology of the character, other things can be read into a portrait: social status, national origin, and more. In his book "Making an Exhibition," HUOlbrist says that his only critical tool for organizing exhibitions is the notion of the Archipelago, taken from a Martinique writer who set his novels in that region. Archipelagos foster the exchange of habits, customs, and traditions between various ethnic groups. When these groups move to cities, conflicts arise. Big cities tend to be controlling, they hinder entry, they make life difficult, and they are certainly less welcoming than archipelagos. This may be true for some, but not for all. If there is no exchange between cultures, the city cannot grow.
