Description of the work
Description of the work
The work has a marked expressionist vocation, which tends to emphasize the expression of emotions. Expressionist art seeks to proclaim its moods to the world and flaunt them with passion. Formally, this translates into a summary rendering of the figures, through a very nervous and animated line, as well as the use of a bright color palette. These characteristics are found in the historical avant-garde movements of expressionism: Fauvism and the Die Brucke movement in Germany.
In this work, Renato Borsato demonstrates the distinctive features of his easel style: his penchant for painting based entirely on color. Borsato's color is distributed in compact areas and divided into various zones. The different areas of color, like a mosaic, form the object, which, through this decomposition achieved through color, gains in expressiveness.
Renato Borsato is a painter who lives and works in Venice, where he was born in 1927. His career flourished especially in the 1950s, when he exhibited his work at numerous events both in Italy and abroad. He participated twice in the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadriennale.
