Raffaele Capozzi - No title

The painting can be defined as a genre scene, that is, the depiction of an episode of everyday life that, apparently, lacks any significant element. These types of domestic subjects were long considered minor and only began to spread in Western art starting in the 17th century. Only with the development of 19th-century realism did everyday subjects become considered as important as historical or religious ones. Soon after, the Impressionists also gave great importance to the everyday, to everyday life, with a certain predilection, however, for the frenzy of the city, crowds, traffic, and typically bourgeois settings. Raffaele Capozzi's pictorial production is precisely connected to this trend: his paintings feature elegantly dressed women immersed in the greenery of nature and city parks.

Artist Raffaele Capozzi draws on an impressionist, open-air conception of painting. In this painting, too, we see the artist's elegant, folk-themed subject, executed with remarkable freshness and vivacity. Formally, this translates into a refined hatching technique, using broad, dense strokes of color. In this way, the painting's surface captures all the luminous vibrations of the space in a composition of brilliant and dynamic chromaticism.

Raffaele Capozzi was born in Lecce in 1938. He is a painter, sculptor, and graphic artist. He graduated from the State Art Institute of Lecce, where his first teacher was his father, Emanuele. He has participated in art exhibitions such as the 8th Annual Italian Watercolor Exhibition, the 1st National Mini-Picture Exhibition, the 1st International Exhibition of Figurative Art, and other events, winning numerous awards.
