Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images. In this large-scale work, Sadun reflects an artistic phase in which he indulged in a playful and vibrant surrealism, somewhat inspired by Miró. The process of abstraction is pushed to the limit, resulting in the formation of biomorphic entities that float within the composition as if in amniotic fluid. The atmosphere in which they interact is also influenced by the pictorial explorations of the 1950s and 1960s. Indeed, the background is textured, deliberately rough, with a gestural texture against which the floating entities are forced to contend. Piero Sadun, a Sienese painter born in 1919, went through three phases of his artistic career. In the first, he devoted himself to an expressionist language in which forms were synthesized by a textured and gestural brushstroke. In the second phase, this technique was also experimented with in a sort of cubist decomposition. In the third phase, he completed the process of abstraction, dedicating himself to entirely textured and gestural compositions.
