Parthenope

In Parthenope, the figure of the siren moves beyond the seductive and decorative imagination to assume a more ambiguous, almost unsettling presence. Barely emerged from the surface, at the boundary between water and darkness, she appears as a living threshold: not a creature to be contemplated, but an enigma to be crossed.

The face, marked by darkened eyes, denies the viewer direct access, precluding any possibility of immediate identification. The siren does not offer herself: she guards. And in this denial, she becomes charged with a silent, ancient, profoundly Mediterranean tension.

Behind her, a distant light opens in the darkness of the abyss, not as a salvific element, but as an ambiguous summons, a presence that illuminates the viewer more than the subject itself. The composition is thus built on an unstable balance between attraction and distance, between revelation and withdrawal.

The dark violet tones envelop the scene in a suspended dimension, where the myth of Parthenope is stripped of its traditional iconography to re-emerge in a more essential and unsettling form: thin, blonde, distant, irreducible to any reassuring narrative
