Paolo Vergu - Last Supper

The central section of the work reproduces Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper, painted between 1495 and 1498 in the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. The sides contain other scenes in which the figure of Christ and St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican can be recognized.

Paolo Vergu is an artist with excellent technical skill, as is evident in his replica of Leonardo's Last Supper. Vergu creates a true perspective inlay that respects the spatial box created by the Renaissance master. The figures are also replicated with great precision, both in their facial features and their complex drapery. The forms are monumental and beautifully enhanced. Vergu also demonstrates an excellent hand as a draftsman, as can be seen from the engravings in the side frame.
