Description of the work
Description of the work
The epic work, one of the most important in the world, attributed to the Greek poet Homer, who lived perhaps between the 8th and 7th centuries BC, sings of the adventures of Ulysses (Odysseus in Greek) who after the Trojan War embarks on a long and arduous journey that will bring him back to Ithaca, his home. The poem is composed of 24 books in which numerous temporal digressions can be read. The main themes treated in the work are multiple from cunning, loyalty, love, hospitality and above all destiny seeking in free will its freedom as a man, in fact, even if the gods influence the destiny of men, Ulysses exercises his will and his ingenuity to try to overcome the challenges. The volume has a calfskin binding hand-spotted in green with four raised bands on the spine, gold inscriptions made by the artisans of the Art Bookbinding "La Bottega del Legatore" in Ancona. The work we have the pleasure of admiring has on the cover plate a beautiful specimen in 24k gold-plated metal bas-relief, executed by the master Ugo Attardi, in which he represented "Odysseus and Penelope".
