Description of the work
Lists of words in a row are the written signs of Missing Truth, in which the artist gives form to her memories, needs, and missing parts. Using the same method one uses to write down the products she's missing in her life, her needs, her absences. Thus, on plexiglass, writings appear that appear to be notes to herself, signs of a personal alphabet to fill that inner void and free her from the pain of loss.
However, those writings, which are partially covered in the plastic because the sheet of plexiglass has been folded as if to fill in the gap already filled, not only manage to warm the artist's heart, but with their simplicity and formal rigor they strike the viewer because each of us, adult or child, has our own list of missing parts, of needs to be filled.
Completing the thermoformed sculpture is a luminous writing made with a cold cathode tube with the addition of Argon gas.
In compiling her “missingwords,” Laura Ambrosi expresses herself in English, not to appear more international, but because only English, through its 'continuous' form (Ingform), is able to convey the idea of a feeling that dilates and expands in the body, that fluctuates over time and which, on the other hand, using the present indicative of the Italian language, would be fixed once and for all at the very moment in which it is pronounced.
