Description of the work
Description of the work
The painting depicts a lively and detailed still life, featuring various objects arranged on a surface. In the center, a brightly colored rooster is the main subject, surrounded by elements such as colorful flowers in a vase and scattered on the table, a red lantern, a decorated horn, and other rustic objects. In the background, details such as a lit candle on a candlestick and a mirror or a stylized window are visible. The pictorial style is expressive and vibrant, with strong brushstrokes and contrasting colors that lend energy to the overall composition.
Artist Michele Lapesara is best known for his urban landscapes, which combine a flair for vibrant, lively illustration with a wealth of folkloristic and popular details. This whimsical and creative nature is consistently expressed even when he tackles other subjects, as in this still life. The composition always proceeds in a stylized manner, with a bold black line that brings the drawing to life and prepares the areas that will be filled with color in a cloisonné-style manner. Michele Lapesara's palette also reflects his painterly flair, composed of a myriad of colors in bright and sophisticated hues, always maintaining a polychromatic balance throughout the composition. The defining characteristic of Michele Lapesara's works is precisely his ability to saturate the composition with the presence of numerous objects, which are curious glimpses of an everyday and popular reality, which the artist narrates with simplicity and pictorial imagination.
Michele Lapesara is an Apulian painter born in Bari in 1935. His work is distinguished by vibrant city views with a folkloristic feel. He prefers to depict important squares and monuments, especially in Apulia and his native Bari.
