Description of the work
Description of the work
This hand-engraved methacrylate sculpture is a luminous figurative work inspired by a 17th-century lace piece from the Burano Lace Museum Collection in the Venice lagoon. It evokes the delicate and meticulous stitches of the lacemakers' skill and is imbued with evocative power. Inside, white neon lights enhance the work's edging, enhancing its effect. The glass tubes, crafted and bent by hand according to the artist's designs, are charged with argon gas. The workmanship in this fragment is based on the "relief Venice stitch" technique. Browsing through antique lace, recovering and reinterpreting the traditional repertoire of the Burano Lace School, an unexpected and fascinating adventure in the world of yarns unfolds, reviving and reviving a centuries-old tradition. These signs revisit familiar gestures, elements of a story centered on an ancient and evolving art, moving from a cultural asset to a contemporary creative expression. It is a sculptural fabric obsessively decorated with Renaissance designs, a metaphor for rebirth. It is a lace with a light that illuminates dreams, expectations, hopes, and with engraved signs that retain history and memory. A sign, therefore, a gesture that, repeated, reaffirms the romantic authenticity of sentiment. Art compensates, rearranges, levels, strengthens, and mitigates. Like a splendid contemplative therapy.
