MELCHIZEDEK

Who is Melchizedek? What is his power? Where does it come from?

Green Lantern draws power from an alien ring given to him by an extraterrestrial on his deathbed. That power comes from the bond the dying alien forges with the ring, which recharges from a lantern.
A superhero with an alien power who fights evil in the universe by spreading this message:
"In the brightest day, in the darkest night, let no wicked escape my watch. And let him who is lost in evil beware my power, the light of the Green Lantern!"

But what the Lord accomplished on the cross enabled the bride (the church) to receive the power of God to conquer evil in the world and be the light that shines in the darkness, announcing the eternal Gospel.

(Hebrews 7:1-2)
"This Melchizedek, as the Bible says, was king of Salem and priest of Almighty God. As Abraham returned from battle, where he had defeated the kings, Melchizedek met him and blessed him. To him Abraham gave a tenth of everything. His name means 'king of righteousness,' and moreover he is also king of Salem, which means 'king of peace.'"

(Hebrews 7:13-16)
"These words refer to Jesus our Lord, who belongs to a tribe in which no one was ever a priest of the altar. For it is clear that Jesus comes from the tribe of Judah, and Moses said nothing of it when he spoke of the priesthood. And all this is even more evident since another priest has come, similar to Melchizedek. He did not become a priest because of human laws, but by the power of an everlasting life."

(Psalms 97:2) "A dark cloud surrounds him; righteousness and justice uphold his throne."

(Hebrews 7:25)
"Therefore he is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through him. For he always lives to pray for them to God."

Ultimately, the Lord is the source of all power, the king of justice who brings true peace and deliverance into our hearts.
