The work has a marked expressionist vocation, which tends to emphasize the expression of emotions. Expressionist art seeks to proclaim its moods to the world and flaunt them with passion. Formally, this translates into a summary rendering of the figures, through a very nervous and animated line, as well as the use of a violent color palette. These characteristics are found in the historical avant-garde movements of expressionism: Fauvism and the Die Brucke movement in Germany.

At first glance, Marso's style appears charged with hidden messages and a heightened symbolic value. The subjects he presents can still be understood within the context of reality, but it is a completely transfigured reality. And it is in this transfiguration that Marso's Expressionism emerges, for this transfiguration coincides with an aggressive process of reduction of reality. The figures are synthesized with a few stylistic elements, elongated and deformed to express the painter's sensibility. Almost paradoxically, the painter, perhaps to curb his minimalism, seeks to reconnect with three-dimensionality by adding relief materials to the surface of the panel.
