Description of the work
Description of the work
Flowers as a subject in their own right begin to appear in "still lifes," a genre that sees the light at the beginning of the 17th century. Later, painters' interest in the floral world, especially with the Impressionists, grows ever greater, as an extraordinary opportunity to capture chromatic and luminous vibrations. Thus, flowers begin to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. If at the beginning of its history it was a pretext for painters to try their hand at a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality.
In this painting we can notice how Mario Soave's artistic language gives more importance to the composition itself than to the naturalistic rendering of the landscape. The way the subject has been interpreted, in fact, appears schematic, almost stereotyped. But it is at the formal level that Soave expresses his value. Through meticulous painting, which pursues every minute chromatic and luminous value, the work becomes a triumph of color. The tonal and light values are fundamental in order to create a composition of great harmony and balance in which the static nature of the subject is also framed.
Mario Soave was born in Forte dei Marmi in 1955, the city where he resides. During his career he has obtained numerous awards and recognitions, and has always received a great response from critics and the public. His works appear in several Italian and foreign collections. Mario Soave, after an initial period of experimentation, has devoted himself mainly to landscape painting.
